Custom software for aquaculture operations

From digital inspection forms to real-time fleet monitoring. Build the apps your operation actually needs, on a single platform used by pioneers like Mowi, Cermaq, Nofima and Aqua Robotics.

Trusted by aquaculture operators across the value chain

A salmon farm isn’t one system. It’s twenty.

Robots, sensors, feeding systems, environmental monitoring, fish-health tools, sea lice counting, wellboats, logistics and regulators. Every operation runs on a stack of systems that don’t talk to each other, and fish farmers still spend half their day in spreadsheets, paper forms and phone calls.

  • Quality checks, fish-health logs and key reports still live on paper or PDF
  • Advisors, technicians, suppliers and customers each work from their own version of the truth
  • Sensor and environmental data sits scattered across different systems with no shared view
  • Off-the-shelf software is too generic, and custom development is expensive — both to build and to maintain
  • AI tools build something fast, but not something you’d put in production

The result

Fish farmers navigate poorly-fitted software, losing time and energy on solutions that don't fit.

Build the software your operation actually needs, without owning the stack.

Appfarm is an AI-powered visual development platform for business-critical software. You build and run your own applications. We handle the infrastructure, the operations and the security layer underneath. You get the speed of modern AI tools combined with the governance, traceability and control an industrial business needs to put a system into production.

Speed

Days from idea to working app, not months.

Governance

Role-based access for humans and agents. ISO 27001 certified.

Traceability

Every change, every workflow, every data point has a trail.

Control

Your data. Your apps. Your business logic. Roll out, customize and extend as your operation evolves.

Built for every part of the aquaculture value chain

Different roles, different jobs to do, same platform underneath.

Fish farmers

Pull data together across sites and build the workflows that match how your operations actually run.

Used today by Mowi and Cermaq.

Tech and equipment suppliers

Offer your customers tailored portals and simplify the work behind troubleshooting, communication and maintenance.

Aqua Robotics built theirs on Appfarm.

Feed suppliers, advisors, veterinarians and researchers

Project planning, reporting, sampling and fish-health examinations.

Used today by Nofima.

Service and wellboat operators

Coordinate work across sites, crews and customers without the spreadsheet juggling.

Customer story

Aqua Robotics keeps every robot in the fleet in view, from one app they built themselves

Aqua Robotics builds the autonomous robots that clean fish-farm nets. To run that operation, they built their own software on Appfarm: one app for technicians in the field, one for the operations team, one portal for the customer. Sensor data, planning and customer collaboration all in one place, on a platform their own team can change the same day a need shows up.

With Appfarm, we've been able to create a complete overview of our robotic fleet and cleaning operations. We stay in control of all robots installed in our customers' fish farms, we can plan and carry out maintenance, and we can collaborate effectively with our customers.

Two paths, one platform

Build it yourself, like Aqua Robotics did

Some teams have the capacity to own the development process end to end. Appfarm gives them the visual building blocks, AI assistance and the governance to put it in production.

Get started for free

Or start with a partner who knows Appfarm

Most aquaculture customers move faster by starting with an implementation partner. You can take over the build later, on the same platform, when your team is ready. The platform works either way.

Get connected with a partner

What good looks like, six months in

  • Days from idea to working app, validated by your own team
  • One source of truth across sites, systems and partners
  • Software you can extend yourself, or with help from a partner, as needs change
  • Customer and partner collaboration that doesn’t depend on phone calls and email
  • Less time on paperwork, more time focused on the fish

Connect to the systems you already use

Appfarm connects to the systems running your operation today. Pull data in, push data out, keep the platform of record where it belongs.

FAQs

How long until the first app is live?

It depends on the path. Teams building it themselves typically launch the first application in 4 to 8 weeks. Starts with an implementation partner can be faster, especially for simpler use cases like digitizing inspection forms or quality control checklists.

What does Appfarm integrate with?

Most of the systems an aquaculture operation already runs on. ERP and finance systems through standard APIs, sensor and IoT data through MQTT or AWS IoT Core, file storage like SharePoint and Drive, and analytics platforms like Power BI and Snowflake. If a system has an API, Appfarm can talk to it.

Can offshore or remote crews use the apps?

Yes. Appfarm apps work offline. Crews on the merdkant or out on a wellboat capture data on their device, and everything syncs once connectivity returns.

Do we need our own developers, or can we work with a partner?

Either works. Aqua Robotics chose to own the build with their own team. Most aquaculture customers start with an implementation partner who knows Appfarm and take over development later if they want to. The platform is the same either way.

Is it secure enough for production aquaculture operations?

Yes. Appfarm is ISO 27001 certified, with role-based access, full audit trails, and infrastructure that is operated and patched for you. Customer data stays your data.

Who owns the apps and data we build?

You do. The applications, the data, and the business logic are yours. You can extend them, change them, or hand them off to a different partner without rebuilding from scratch.
